OCTOBER IS MANUFACTURING MONTH IN MINNESOTA, HIGHLIGHTING THE IMPORTANCE OF MANUFACTURING IN THE STATE’S ECONOMY. THE SECTOR ACCOUNTED FOR OVER 11% OF STATEWIDE EMPLOYMENT LAST YEAR, AND FEATURE WAGES THAT ARE 10% HIGHER THAN ACROSS ALL INDUSTRIES IN THE STATE.
GOVERNOR WALZ YESTERDAY ANNOUNCED THE FINAL NUMBERS FOR FRONTLINE WORKER PAYMENTS, COMMONLY CALLED HERO PAY. THE TOTAL OF $500 MILLION WILL BE DIVIDED EQUALLY AMONG THE JUST OVER 1 MILLION FRONTLINE WORKERS IN THE STATE, THAT WORKED IN JOBS THAT POSED GREATER RISKS DUE TO COVID-19. THAT AMOUNTS TO PAYMENTS OF $487.45. WALZ SAID THOSE WHO OPTED FOR A DIRECT DEPOSIT COULD SEE THAT MONEY AS EARLY AS TOMORROW. THOSE BEGIN PAID THROUGH PRE-PAID CARD MAILED TO THEM, ARE LIKELY TO SEE THEM IN 3-4 WEEKS.
THREE TWIN CITIES AREA RESIDENTS WERE KILLED IN A PLANE CRASH THAT HAPPENED LATE SATURDAY NEAR THE AIRPORT IN DULUTH. THE CRASH REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
