RECENTLY THE EAST GRAND FORKS SCHOOL DISTRICT RAISED THE LEVEL OF HEALTH AND SAFETY MEASURES IN THEIR SCHOOL TO INCLUDE MANDATORY MASKS FOR THEIR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS AND STAFF. THE CROOKSTON SCHOOL BOARD WILL MEET THIS THURSDAY IN SPECIAL SESSION TO CONSIDER MAKING A SIMILAR MOVE. THERE WAS NEWS YESTERDAY THAT PFIZER WILL SEEK APPROVAL FOR THEIR COVID-19 VACCINE FOR AGES 5-11 SOON.
DUE TO A DRY SUMMER, WE SURVIVED MOST OF IT WITHOUT A LARGE MOSQUITO PROBLEM, BUT AS RAIN HAS INCREASED LATELY AND TEMPERATURES REMAINING MILD, CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN FAVORABLE FOR LATE SEASON HATCH. SOME NORTHERN MINNESOTA COMMUNITIES WILL BE SPRAYING TO LESSEN THE POPULATION.
THERE WAS AN ANNOUNCEMENT THAT RESTRICTIONS FOR FOREIGN AIR TRAVELERS COMING TO THE UNITED STATES WERE GOING TO BE LIGHTENED BEGINNING IN NOVEMBER, AND THAT LED TO SOME OPTIMISM THAT LAND CROSSINGS FOR CANADIAN TRAVELERS WOULD ALSO BE ALLOWED, THAT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE THE CASE AT LEAST NOT FOR NOW. THE LAND BORDER CLOSURE WAS OFFICIALLY EXTENDED FOR ANOTHER MONTH, UNTIL OCTOBER 21.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS PRESENTING A ONE WOMAN SHOW ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22ND. THE SHOW ENTITLED “SAMANTHA RASTLES THE WOMAN QUESTION” FEATURES JANE CURRY AS SAMANTHA SMITH ALLEN, A PHILOSOPHER WHO CHALLENGES THE SOCIAL NORMS REGARDING WOMEN. THE SHOW IS FREE AND OPEN TO ALL AND BEGINS AT 7 P.M. THERE IS THE OPTION OF COMING EARLY FOR A MEATBALL DINNER FOR $15 PER PLATE.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR MICHAEL RIOUX WILL BE HELD SATURDAY (2 PM) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN BAUDETTE, WITH VISITATION ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THAT SERVICE. MICHAEL RIOUX PASSED AWAY SEPTEMBER 8TH AT THE AGE OF 62.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR KENT RIOUX OF BAUDETTE WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY (2 PM) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME BAUDETTE, WITH VISITATION ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THAT SERVICE. KENT RIOUX PASSED AWAY SEPTEMBER 2ND AT THE AGE OF 83.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR ROSS E. DALLY OF BAUDETTE WILL BE FRIDAY, THE 24TH, (11 AM) AT FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH IN BAUDETTE. VISITATION WILL BE HELD ONE HOUR PRIOR. INTERMENT WILL BE HELD AT ELM PARK CEMETERY. ROSS DALLY PASSED AWAY AT THE AGE OF 93.
