A THIEF RIVER FALLS MAN IS FACING A FELONY CHARGE AFTER ALLEGEDLY THREATENING TO SHOOT A PENNINGTON COUNTY DEPUTY. THE EVENTS OCCURRED ON AUGUST 23, WHEN THE DEPUTY WAS INVESTIGATING ANOTHER CASE, HE KNOCKED ON THE DOOR OF 56-YEAR OLD PAUL WARNKE, WHO THEN BECAME AGGRAVATED AND SHOUTING ABOUT NEEDING A SEARCH WARRANT.

CODY MEEKMA OF THIEF RIVER FALLS IS ALSO FACING CHARGES AFTER ALLEGEDLY PHYSICALLY ASSAULTING A MALE FAMILY MEMBER, INCLUDING CHOKING HIM UNCONSCIOUS. HE ALSO PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED THE OFFICER WHO ARRIVED AT THE SCENE.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD MET YESTERDAY, SOME ITEMS FROM WHAT WAS A LIGHT AGENDA, INCLUDED A LAND ACCESS REQUEST FROM THE MINNESOTA DNR FOR THE ELK RESEARCH STUDY, A LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR A CEDAR BEND PARK GRANT APPLICATION.

THE ANNUAL BUOY BASH IS THIS WEEKEND AT THE NORTHWEST ANGLE, WITH BOTH EVENTS ON THE MAINLAND AND OUT ON THE ISLANDS. IT STARTS FRIDAY NIGHT WITH A HISTORICAL PRESENTATION, AND CONTINUES SATURDAY WITH FOOD, MUSIC, GAMES, AND MORE.

THE WALK TO REMEMBER TO SUPPORT ALZHEIMERS IS SEPTEMBER 7 IN WARROAD, AT ALLISON PARK. REGISTRATION IS THAT MORNING AT 9:00 WITH THE WALK TO BEGIN AT 11:30. A FREEWILL DONATION LUNCH WILL FOLLOW. THERE IS A THEME THIS YEAR TO “ROCK N ROLL FOR ALZHEIMERS”, WHERE SOCK HOP OUTFITS AND MORE ARE ENCOURAGED.

A BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT, ALONG WITH A RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY, IS BEING HELD IN NEWFOLDEN TODAY AT THE MARSHALL COUNTY CENTRAL SCHOOL. THERE WAS AN $18 MILLION PROJECT DONE, BETWEEN THAT HIGH SCHOOL, ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, AND ALSO VIKING ELEMENTARY. THE RIBBON CUTTING IS AT 4:30, WITH THE BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT TO FOLLOW.

ROSEAU IS ALSO HOSTING A BACK TO SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE TONIGHT FROM 5-7:30.
