THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA ARTS COUNCIL IS NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR THE 2024 ANNUAL ART EXHIBIT. THEY WILL TAKE THOSE THROUGH FEBRUARY 29. THAT EXHIBIT WILL BE IN LAKE BRONSON AT THE KITTSON COUNTY HISTORY MUSEUM IN MARCH AND APRIL. THOSE ARTISTS WILL BE FROM THEIR 7 COUNTY SERVICE AREA AND COMPETE FOR $2300 IN CASH AWARDS. BOTH ADULTS AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CAN SUBMIT UP TO TWO PIECES.
STRONG SOUTH WINDS CAUSED A PRESSURE RIDGE TO OPEN YESTERDAY AT LONG POINT, STRANDING ABOUT 50 FISHERMEN ON THE ICE AT LONG POINT. A THIEF RIVER FALLS MAN MADE HIS INITAL COURT APPEARNCE YESTERDAY ON CHARGES THAT HE SOLD METHAMPHETAMINE TO A CONFIDENTIAL INFORMANT. 24-YEAR OLD NOAH CHRISTOPHER DYBEDAHL IS CHARGED WITH THIRD-DEGREE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE SALES, WITH A MAX PENALTY OF 20 YEARS IN PRISON. THAT ARRANGED SALE TOOK PLACE ON NOVEMBER 13.
40-YEAR OLD ERIK CHARLES VEDBRAATEN OF NEWFOLDEN HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO 108 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR SECOND-DEGREE CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONDUCT. HE PLEADED GUILTY TO THE LOWERED CHARGE ON OCTOBER 30. VEDBRAATEN ADMITTED TO A SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH A MINOR THAT HAD GONE ON FOR APPROXIMATELY FOUR YEARS AND ESCALATED OVER TIME.
A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR OTTO I. LEE OF BAUDETTE WILL BE HELD THIS SATURDAY (2 PM) AT FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH IN BAUDETTE. VISITATION WILL BE FRIDAY FROM 5-7 PM. INTERMENT WILL TAKE PLACE AT ELM PARK CEMETERY IN BAUDETTE. OTTO PASSED ON DECEMBER 30 AT TEH AGE OF 95.
