Mae Borreson, of Strathcona, MN, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Lifecare Medical Center in Roseau, MN, at the age of 85.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Mary Lundquist officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Strathcona, MN. Please follow social distance guidelines and wear a mask.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at Johnson Funeral Service.
Mae Edna Erickson was born the third of six children at home in Deer Township on May 23, 1935, to Robert and Esther (Kimble) Erickson. After Robert passed, Esther married Clifford Larson.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Mae attended country school until 8th grade. She went on to Greenbush High School, graduating in the class of 1953.
On June 27, 1959 Mae was married to Ingvald Sam Borreson in Thief River Falls, MN. They made their home on Mae’s family farm in Strathcona, MN, where they raised their children, Kimberly, Kevin, and Karla.
Mae was a dedicated homemaker, taking only seasonal jobs such as potato harvest. When her youngest graduated high school, she worked outside the home at Polaris until she retired in 2001.
Mae was a dedicated Mother, first and foremost. She treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and embraced every moment with them, proudly embracing her title as GG.
Mae’s enjoyed many things, including embroidery, music jams, trying new recipes, and spending time with family and friends.
Mae was an active member at Gustav Adolph Lutheran Church in Strathcona and a leader in the women’s group.
Mae lived the whole of her life on the family farm. She is survived by her children, Kimberly Borreson of Strathcona, MN, Kevin (Becky) Borreson of Strathcona, MN, and Karla (Dion) Nelson of Karlstad, MN; grandchildren, Lindsey (Andrew) Krank of Badger, MN, Briana Nelson and McKenna Nelson both of Karlstad, MN, Kevin (Madison) Borreson of Roseau, MN, Kendra (Ben) Olson of Thief River Falls, MN, and Lynn Borreson of Thief River Falls, MN; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Aubrey Krank, Zoey Teggatz, Chase Borreson, and Laci Smith; sister, Victoria Waage of Greenbush, MN; sister-in-law, Ruby Erickson of Thief River Falls, MN; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ingvald; granddaughter, Kayla Borreson; her parents; siblings, Kenneth Erickson, Lillian Howdahl, Milton Erickson, and Jeanette Kasprowicz.
