Mark Cecil Glad, age 54 years, passed away on February 14, 2025 at Greenbush, MN. Mark was born on June 27, 1970 in Karlstad, MN to parents, Diane (Coffield) and Richard Glad Jr. He attended and graduated from school in Lancaster, MN. Upon finishing high school, he entered the United States Marine Corps in Fargo, ND in July 1989. He was stationed at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, GA as a Military Police Officer (MP). He proudly served four years and was Honorably discharged in July 1993. He then returned to Minnesota and attended college at Minnesota West Community & Technical College in Canby, MN with a focus on Soil and Water Conservation. He had a strong love for the outdoors, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, camping, bonfires and constant tinkering out in the garage. He enjoyed a great steak and an ice-cold beer every chance he had.
Mark worked construction for many years. He spent 17 years at Polaris Industries working on the machines he enjoyed his entire life. He then worked at Burkel Lumber, starting friendships that meant the world to him. He also enjoyed his time working with the animals and driving tractor at a local farm.
Mark met Tanya Melby in 2000. On October 2, 2004, they were married in Greenbush, MN at United Free Lutheran Church. Mark was also baptized in this church. To this marriage, Andrew Wyatt was born in 2008 and Jordan Alexi was born in 2010. He had a strong love for his family and insisted on teaching them as many life skills as possible…along with the usual “dad jokes” at times. He enjoyed seeing the kids happy and growing. He was very proud of them and looked forward to seeing them graduate and handle whatever life hands them. Mark and Tanya enjoyed many concerts together over the years, attended as many Minnesota Vikings games as possible and watched the rest of the games together, at home. His favorite game to attend was the “Minneapolis Miracle” game in January of 2018. Mark was a member of the VWO (Vikings World Order). He was honored to be knighted into this group and made sure he sang the full team song every chance he had. He enjoyed fixing and creating with his carpentry skills. He also enjoyed every family trip which created experiences and memories for all.
Mark was a member of the American Legion in Greenbush, MN. He also served as past Post Commander.
He is survived by his wife Tanya of Greenbush; son Andrew and daughter Jordan of Greenbush; son Mathew of Hallock, MN; parents Diane and Richard of Lancaster, MN; sister Vicky Glad of Lancaster, MN; sister Evette (Harley) Larson of Wasilla, AK; mother-in-law Eileen Waage of Greenbush; nephews, nieces and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Rick Glad and Jamie Glad, grandparents, nephew Nicolas Sevigny, brother-in-law Kurt Melby and father-in-law Stanley Melby.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported and encouraged Mark over the years. He enjoyed life to its fullest before cancer hit and was a warrior until the very end. He loved to laugh, push the boundaries and was game for any adventure. Life is far too short, hug your loved ones. We really are just walking each other Home.
