Michael Joseph Fortier (Mike) born Jan 12, 1952 passed away Sept 23, 2021 at the age of 69 from complications related to lung cancer at Sanford Hospital Bemidji, MN. Mike leaves behind his beloved Sandra Buckley of Bemidji MN, daughters, Melanie Coons of Bemidji MN, Dawn Marie Fortier Churchill Of Michigan and Rachel Irene Fortier Murray, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson, brother Lawrence Lindgren of Roosevelt, MN and sisters Annette Lindgren of Williams MN , Rose Kirby of Warroad, MN and Teresa Keith of Richmond, IL. Preceded in death by his grandparents Fred Fortier and Adeline Tindeski Fortier, his mother Irene Fortier Lindgren, dearest cousin/brother Alan Fortier, and his nephew Austin Battles.
A memorial service will be held on Oct. 16, 2021 at 11:00 o’clock at the Penturen Church in Beltrami National Forest Grygla, MN. A place close to his heart. We will have a meal/gathering at the Roosevelt Community Center after the service.
Mike loved his family, was a loyal friend and loved to prospect for gold, hunt and fish. He did many things over the course of his lifetime and anyone who knew Mike knows he did them all with great passion. From joining the Navy in his youth to joining a Harley club and traveling across the countryside to hunting and fishing and prospecting. Mike loved life and all it had in store for him. He will be sorely missed.
