Nancy Faye Olafson, 82, passed away on January 28, 2025.
She was born on May 9, 1942, in Roseau, Minnesota to Inghart and Myrtle (Molsness) Haaby.
Nancy’s early life was shaped by the love and care of her family. After losing her mother when she was just three months old, her sisters stepped in to care for her until first grade. She then went to live with her Aunt Clara and Uncle George Erickson, who raised her alongside their daughter Linda until her high school graduation from Roseau High School.
On January 12, 1960, Nancy married Vernon Olafson, and together they were blessed with one daughter, Vicky. Nancy worked for many years at Polaris Industries. She found joy in simple pleasures – tending to her garden, reading, and spending precious time visiting with family and friends. The last three years of her life Nancy lived at LifeCare Roseau Manor where she took immense pride in her “job” of folding silverware.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Inghart and Myrtle (Molsness) Haaby; her sisters Maxine, Lila, and Norma; her brothers Dallas and Lew Allen; her son-in-law Rodney Olson; and her aunt and uncle, George and Clara Erickson.
She is survived by her daughter Vicky; grandchildren Chris (Jennifer) Olson and Arianna (Ryan) Thiele; great-grandchildren Elsie Belle, William, Conner, Ruby, and Cecilia; brother Vernon and many other beloved family members and friends.
