THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD MEETS IN REGULAR MONTHLY SESSION THIS EVENING.. THE ROSEAU SCHOOL HAS BEEN ABLE TO MAINTAIN A LEARNING MODEL FOR STUDENTS SINCE EARLY SEPTEMBER,  DESPITE RAPIDLY RISING COVID CASES IN ROSEAU COUNTY/ ROSEAU ELEMENTARY STUDENTS ARE IN-PERSON MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY,  AND  JUNIOR AND SENIOR STUDENTS HAVE BEEN  IN A HYBRID MODE SINCE THE SECOND WEEK OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.

 

A PUBLIC GRAVESIDE SERVICE,  WITH MILITARY HONORS,  FOR JOHN  WALSH OF BADGER IS THIS AFTERNOON AT TWO  AT ST MARY’S CEMETERY IN BADGER. JOHN  WALSH  WAS  90.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY COURTHOUSE WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC STARTING TOMORROW,  ALTHOUGH COUNTY SERVICES CONTINUE; AND THE PUBLIC CAN ACCESS THE COURTHOUSE WITH AN APPOINTMENT. THE SOCIAL SERVICES,  HIGHWAY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT BUILDINGS WILL ALSO BE CLOSED,  EXCEPT BY APPOINTMENT. THAT’S DUE TO THE ESCALATING NUMBER OF POSITIVE COVID-19 CASES IN THE COUNTY.

SECOND HALF TAXES ON FARM CLASSIFICATIONS AND MOBILE HOMES ARE DUE BY TODAY AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY TREASURER’S OFFICE.

A FOURTEENTH ANNUAL VETERANS CAREER FAIR IS THURSDAY AFTERNOON, AND FOR THE FIRST TIME  (DUE TO THE EPIDEMIC),  IT’LL BE OFFERED IN A VIRTUAL FORMAT. DAVE BELLEFEUILLE IS WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT  OF VETERANS AFFAIRS.

THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE WILL AGAIN BE SPLIT IN JANUARY, WITH REPUBLICANS IN CONTROL OF THE SENATE;  AND DFL’ERS IN CHARGE IN THE HOUSE. SAMANTHA VANG IS A DEMOCRAT FROM BROOKLYN CENTER;  SHE SAYS THAT DIVISION COULD MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO ADVANCE BILLS  ….

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR BARBARA  WELIN, FOLLOWING MINNESOTA COVID GUIDELINES,  IS THURSDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.   VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR. BARBARA  WELIN WAS  82.

A VISITATION FOR HELMER FALK OF SALOL,  FOLLOWING COVID GUIDELINES,  IS FRIDAY AFTERNOON  (2-4 PM)  AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU. HELMER FALK WAS  98.

A VIRTUAL CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE OF KATHRYN OLSON OF WARROAD IS SATURDAY,  DECEMBER  5TH  (3:30 PM). KATHRYN  OLSON WAS  95.

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE SAYS THE STATE WILL GET MORE THAN  106 MILLION FEDERAL  DOLLARS  TO HELP LOW-INCOME MINNESOTANS PAY THEIR WINTER HEATING BILLS. THE LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IS ADMINISTERED IN THIS AREA BY NORTHWEST COMMUNITY ACTION OF BADGER.

ROSEAU COUNTY’S CONFIRMED CORONAVIRUS CASE COUNT CLIMBED OVER  700 YESTERDAY  (702)  ACCORDING TO THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH. THAT’S  152 MORE THAN A WEEK AGO, AND MORE THAN FIVE HUNDRED MORE THAN THE NUMBER ON THE FIRST OF OCTOBER. ROSEAU COUNTY HAD  188 CONFIRMED COVID CASES OVER THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF THE PANDEMIC;  THE COUNTY HAS ADDED  514 NEW CASES OVER THE PAST SIX WEEKS.
