THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SAYS ROSEAU COUNTY ADDED ANOTHER  TWO DOZEN POSITIVE COVID CASES YESTERDAY, WITH  436 SINCE APRIL. A SIMILAR SPIKE IN CORONAVIRUS CASES IS OCCURRING ACROSS THE STATE. MINNESOTA HEALTH COMMISSIONER JAN  MALCOLM  SAYS,  FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE PANDEMIC BEGAN,  MINNESOTA YESTERDAY SAW A NEW INFECTION IN EVERY COUNTY ON THE SAME DAY. WHILE ROSEAU COUNTY’S ARE LARGE  (AND GETTING LARGER)  POLK COUNTY IN NORTHWEST MINNESOTA HAS HAD MORE THAN ELEVEN HUNDRED CASES SINCE APRIL,  AND BELTRAMI COUNTY MORE THAN A THOUSAND.

MINNESOTA GOVERNOR TIM WALZ YESTERDAY REQUESTED STAFFING SUPPORT FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY FOR LONG-TERM CARE FACILITIES AND HOSPITALS  AS COVID CASE NUMBERS RISE IN THE STATE.

MINNESOTA HOUSE DISTRICT  1A WILL REMAIN IN REPUBLICAN CONTROL,  AFTER  JOHN BURKEL’S  LANDSLIDE VICTORY TUESDAY OVER CONNIE LINDSTROM OF HALLOCK. BURKEL,  FROM BADGER,  RECEIVED NEARLY  73% OF THE VOTE IN NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA. REPUBLICAN STATE SENATOR MARK JOHNSON EARNED NEARLY 70% OF THE VOTE IN BEATING DFL CHALLENGER REED PERKINS.    JOHNSON WILL SERVE A SECOND TERM IN THE STATE SENATE.

FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1991,  DFL’ER  COLLIN PETERSON WILL NOT SERVE THE  7TH DISTRICT IN CONGRESS, AFTER LOSING TO REPUBLICAN MICHELLE FISCHBACH TUESDAY. FISCHBACH GOT MORE THAN 192 THOUSAND VOTES  (OR  53%)  TO PETERSON’S  142 THOUSAND VOTES.
