TODAY IS ELECTION DAY, AND ALL BUT ONE OF ROSEAU COUNTY’S TOWNSHIPS CHOSE MAIL BALLOTING THIS YEAR; IN PART DUE TO CORONAVIRUS CONCERNS. ROSEAU COUNTY AUDITOR/ RECORDER MARTIE MONSRUD SAYS THE PROCESSING OF BALLOTS SHOULDN’T CHANGE MUCH ONLY MORANVILLE TOWNSHIP, SOUTH OF WARROAD, CHOSE IN-PERSON VOTING. THE CITIES OF ROSEAU, WARROAD AND GREENBUSH ARE IN-PERSON BECAUSE OF THEIR POPULATIONS; AND THERE IS IN-PERSON VOTING AVAILABLE AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY COURTHOUSE.
THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD, LAST WEEK, SET NOVEMBER 13TH AS THE DATE FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION CANVASSING BOARD; AND APPROVED A RURAL HEALTH NETWORK DEVELOPMENT GRANT APPLICATION. THAT’S A ONE YEAR, ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR GRANT, WHICH WOULD ALLOW THE COUNTY TO HIRE A COORDINATOR FOR IT’S COMMUNITY JUSTICE COORDINATING COMMITTEE.
THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE 40TH SEASON OF WARROAD SUMMER THEATRE, BUT COVID-19 WIPED OUT THE W.S.T. YEAR. SHELLEY GROVE SAYS THE COMMUNITY THEATRE GROUP WILL CELEBRATE THEIR 40TH YEAR IN 2021 …. NEXT YEAR’S PLAYS INCLUDE “LET’S MURDER MARSHA”; “THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE ABRIDGED” (THAT’S THE SPRING PRODUCTION); AND THE MUSICAL “SOUND OF MUSIC”.
THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD, IN OCTOBER, HEARD ABOUT FITNESS CENTER GUIDELINES. ATHLETIC DIRECTOR IVAN HIRST, WHO WAS RECENTLY NAMED ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR FOR SECTION 8A, SAID MOST OTHER AREA SCHOOLS HAVE OPEN WEIGHT ROOMS FOR THEIR STUDENT/ATHLETES. HIRST SAID THE ROSEAU SCHOOL FITNESS CENTER WOULD NEED A SUPERVISOR FOR EARLY MORNING OR AFTER SCHOOL STUDENT AVAILABILITY.
