A Girls Basketball upset tonight as Caledonia keeps the Top Seed Rams from returning to the 2019 AA State Championship game. The Rams and Warriors were back and forth from the very start of this Semifinal game. With 8 minutes left in the first half, the Rams start to pull ahead, hitting a 7 point lead. Roseau also hit 6 team fouls at this point and put Caledonia into the bonus. Rams are able to hold on and go into halftime with a 33-25 lead. The second period saw the Warriors come out with an improved defense and push to within 3 points of the Rams with 10 minutes left. A minute later, Caledonia takes the lead and begins to pull away. Rams had trouble hitting 3 point shots, had an increasing number of turnovers, and saw too many fouls in this very physical game. Warriors end up with a double bonus, making free throws a big factor in their win, and also foul out Katie Borowicz, breaking up the power duo sisters. Scoring for the Rams were Kacie Borowicz with 28, Julia Braaten and Katie Borowicz with 9, Emma Waling 5, and Hanna Mooney 4.
AA State Girls Basketball Semifinal Final Score: Roseau-55, Caledonia 65. Rams now play for 3rd place on Saturday at 1:00pm.
