Ronald Walter Hildebrandt, 74, of Baudette, passed away on July 18th, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth Minnesota. Ronald was born January 31st, 1950 in Baudette Minnesota to Duane and Mona Hildebrandt. Ron joined the Army at 17 years of age where he served in the Vietnam War. After serving two tours for his country, he received his honorable discharge on May 19th, 1969. He received the National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Metal, Vietnam Campaign Metal and the Good conduct Metal.

Ron returned to Baudette and married Shirley Scott. They had two children, Kenny and Angie. Ron was a hard worker for several local businesses including Howard’s Oil, Bemidji Bus lines and Semi-driver for Marvin Windows.  He married Carol Gmyrek and they were married for 51 years. They welcomed son Charles November 19th, 1974. He was a loving father and wonderful husband.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and became very committed to his faith. If you knew Ron, he was a good friend, loved to chat and was loyal to friends and family throughout the community.

Ron’s interests included spending many years dedicated to managing the Moose Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and scratch tickets.

He is survived by his wife Carol, son Chuck and daughter-in-law Leah of Grand Rapids, MN. Sister Linda of Baudette; Sister Janie of Baudette; Brother Paul (Sheree) of Utah; Sister CeCe (Steve) of Baudette; Brother David (Crystal) of Baudette and Wally (Step-Father) of Baudette. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father Duane, mother Mona, brother-in-law Bob, brother Bobby, brother-in-law Bo, brother-in-law Ron, sister-in-law Roberta and sister Deanna. The family is mourning the passing of Deanna who passed away the same day as Ron.

 

A Funeral Service for Ronald “Ron” Hildebrandt of Baudette will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Baudette at 11:00 am with a visitation an hour prior.
