A Funeral Service for Rosella V. Knochenmus of Roseau, MN will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 11:00AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Hope Cemetery in Roseau, MN.
Rosella Violet Knochenmus passed away on July 19, 2024 at New Perspectives in Cloquet, Minnesota.
Rosella Violet (Dahlquist) was born August 15, 1930 to Janette and Albert Dahlquist of Wannaska, MN. Rosella attended Torfin East, Casperson School and Roseau High School, graduating in 1950. She also worked part-time at the Budd Hospital in Roseau as a Nursing Assistant during her last two years of high school.
When Rosella was 15 years old, she made her choice to serve God. Her faith in God was a great support and comfort to her through the many experiences that she faced in her lifetime.
In 1950, she went to work for Dr. Jack Delmore at the Delmore Clinic in Roseau. Rosella got her license for “Practical Nursing” during that time, taking her State Board Exams in St. Paul in May of 1972.
On January 2, 1953, Rosella and Paul Knochenmus eloped. Paul had recently returned from serving in the U.S. Army, actively serving his country during the Korean War.
Rosella continued to work at the Delmore Clinic until she and Paul started a family. At that time, she chose to be a stay-at-home-mother. She enjoyed motherhood, homemaking, and being involved with their three children’s activities during their school years. Rosella was known for her love of hospitality, gardening, sewing, fishing, baking, and preserving, and the way that she shared those gifts with others.
After Paul retired, Rosella and Paul enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and going to the cabin. They enjoyed so many visits and wonderful fellowship with family and friends.
Rosella is preceded in death by her husband Paul, her parents Albert and Janette, and all of her siblings and their spouses. She is survived by her three children: Jon Knochenmus, Iris (Duane) Schraw, and Walter (Julie) Knochenmus, her three grandchildren: Kari (Barry) Hagbom, Luke (Lindsay) Schraw, and Emily (Dustin) Waldo, her eleven great-grandchildren: Lars, Bergen, Logan, Freya, Keaton, Leif, Matilda, Carson, Sven, Maxwell, Josey, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
We would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at New Perspectives Memory Care for the exceptional care and kindness shown to our mother, and a special thank-you to St. Croix Hospice for their caring support in the last week of Mom’s life.
