Shirley Kupper of Roseau passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 73.

Shirley Marie Kupper was born on August 11, 1951, in Grafton, ND to Clarence and Beatrice (Stewart) Geir. The family moved to Grand Forks, ND in 1958 where she would grow up. She graduated from Central High School.

Shirley had one child, James Kristjen Armentrout. In 1985 she married Martin John Kupper in Grand Forks, and they built a life together. They moved several times and eventually settled in Roseau, MN. It was like coming home.

Shirley worked at Pamida and Shopko for many years. When she was not working, she enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, and doing house things. Volunteering was important to her.

As a cancer survivor, Shirley liked to encourage others to beat the curse of illness. A point of pride was learning to ride a motorcycle at the age of 49. You are never too old to learn something new.

She is survived by her husband Martin; son James Armentrout of Commerce City, CO; stepchildren Doug Kupper of San Marcos, TX and Corrine Kupper of San Diego, CA; brothers and sisters Sheryl Otremba, Randy (Vikki) Geir, Ron (Christine) Geir, Kelly (Kim), Kathleen (James) Vilandre, and Barbara Geir. Shirley had 3 favorite grandchildren that she was so proud of, Ryan Armentrout, Caleb and Jocelyn Lizakowski.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Beatrice Geir.

A Memorial Service for Shirley Kupper of Roseau will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Rose Free Lutheran Church in Roseau at 3:00 pm with a visitation an hour prior. Interment will take place at Moe-Rose Cemetery in Roseau.
