FOUR ROSEAU WRESTLERS ARE GOING TO THE STATE INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT. CHANDLER MOONEY WON THE 152 POUND SECTION 8A CHAMPIONSHIP, WHILE BEN OLSON, SAWYER KLATT AND DALE GRINDAHL ALL WON TRUE 2ND PLACE MATCHES.
B-G-MR’S OWEN NOVACEK, DOMINIK VACURA, AVERY AUGUSTSON, ZACH EVANS AND CALEB VACURA WON TITLES AT THEIR WEIGHT CLASSES; AND WILL BE JOINED AT THE STATE MEET BY 2ND PLACE FINISHER BRANDON PRIES. ROSEAU’S RACE KNOCHENMUS WAS 3RD AT 138 POUNDS.
ROSEAU’S BOYS HOCKEY SEASON CAME TO AN END WITH A 4-2 LOSS TO BRAINERD SATURDAY IN THE SECTION 8AA SEMIFINALS. BRAINERD PLAYS TOP SEED MOORHEAD WEDNESDAY FOR A TRIP TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT. MOORHEAD SHUT OUT BUFFALO 3-0.
WARROAD’S GIRLS HOCKEY TEAM FELL 6-1 TO BRECK IN THE STATE CLASS “A” CHAMPIONSHIP GAME SATURDAY IN ST PAUL. THE WARRIORS’ GENO HENDRICKSON, KAITLYN KOTLOWSKI, QUINN KUNTZ AND HANNAH CORNELIUSON WERE NAMED TO THE ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM.
EDINA EDGED BRAINERD 4-3 IN DOUBLE OVERTIME FOR THE STATE CLASS “AA” TITLE; THAT’S A 3RD STRAIGHT TITLE FOR THE HORNETS. BRAINERD’S OLIVIA KING MADE 51 SAVES.
WARROAD’S BOYS HOCKEY TEAM PLAYS FOR A TRIP TO THE STATE CLASS “A” TOURNAMENT THURSDAY AGAINST EAST GRAND FORKS . THE WARRIORS’ OWEN MEEKER SCORED TWICE AND ZACH FOSTER MADE 29 SAVES AS WARROAD GOT PAST THIEF RIVER FALLS 2-1 IN DOUBLE OVERTIME SATURDAY. EAST GRAND FORKS ADVANCED WITH A 4-0 SHUTOUT OF DETROIT LAKES.
THE SECTION 8A GIRLS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT STARTS TOMORROW NIGHT WITH PLAY-IN GAMES; INCLUDING GRYGLA-GOODRIDGE AT BLACKDUCK; FISHER-CLIMAX AT TRI-COUNTY; AND RED LAKE COUNTY AT FERTILE-BELTRAMI.
