Last night’s local sports action featured intense matchups across the board. In boys’ basketball, Roseau narrowly lost to Clearbrook-Gonvick 84-77, Thief River Falls dropped a close one to Pelican Rapids 61-56, and Blackduck overpowered Lake of the Woods 80-53. On the girls’ basketball courts, Roseau struggled against Kittson County Central, losing 79-41, while Bagley edged Warroad 42-38, Badger-Greenbush-Middle River cruised past Goodridge-Grygla 71-44, and International Falls defeated Lake of the Woods 52-43. In girls’ hockey, Warroad defeated Crookston 3-1, while Moorhead shut out Bemidji 3-0. Boys’ hockey saw Warroad dominate Crookston 9-1, and Thief River Falls fell to Grand Forks Red River 4-1. Wrestling brought a mixed night for Roseau, with a 47-29 win over Ottertail Central but a 38-25 loss to Wadena-Deer Creek, while Fertile-Beltrami topped Badger-Greenbush-Middle River 45-27. Elsewhere, the Minnesota Wild fell 6-1 to Colorado, the Timberwolves triumphed 104-89 over Orlando, and Notre Dame edged Penn State 27-24 in the Orange Bowl to advance in the National College Football Playoffs.

On the boy’s basketball court, Roseau faces Stephen-Argyle, Kittson County Central takes on Badger-Greenbush-Middle River, Goodridge-Grygla heads to Clearbrook-Gonvick, and Lake of the Woods plays at Bigfork. In boy’s hockey, Red Lake Falls visits Grafton-Park River in North Dakota, and International Falls takes on Kittson County Central. TOMORROW THE ROZO RAMS will be heading to Brainerd – our own bobcat will be broadcasting that game live. Girl’s hockey action features Fergus Falls at Thief River Falls. For college sports, the National College Football Playoff semi-final kicks off at 6:30 PM in Arlington, Texas, as Texas University takes on Ohio State. In men’s college hockey, Minnesota battles Ohio State, and in men’s college basketball, Minnesota squares off against Wisconsin.
