NHL:
WARROAD’S JAYSON SHAUGABAY AND HAMPTON SLUKYNSKY WERE DRAFTED IN THE 4TH ROUND YESTERDAY. JAYSON WENT TO TAMPA BAY AND HAMPTON TO THE LA KINGS.
THERE APPEARS TO A DEAL THAT WILL UNITE WOMEN’S PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY IN NORTH AMERICA, BUT IT’S EXACT MAKEUP IS UNCLEAR. IT APPEARS THAT TEAMS WITHIN THE PREMIERE HOCKEY FEDERATION WITH BE DISBANDED, PLAYERS CONTRACTS TERMINATED AND THEN THE NEW LEAGUE WILL ANNOUNCE A NUMBER OF CITIES WHERE TEAMS WILL BE LOCATED. THOSE PLAYERS WILL BE JOINED BY OTHERS FROM THE PROFESSIONAL WOMEN’S HOCKEY PLAYERS ASSOCIATION. THAT MEAN’S THE MINNESOTA WHITECAPS ESSENTIALLY NO LONGER EXISTS, BUT MINNESOTA COULD STILL BE NAMED AS A MARKET FOR A TEAM, AND PERHAPS COULD CONTINUE UNDER THE WHITECAPS NAME.
MLB:
THE TWINS WERE OFF YESTERDAY, THEY START A SERIES IN BALTIMORE TONIGHT.
THEY DID CLIMB BACK INTO A TIE ATOP THE DIVISION THANKS TO A CLEVELAND LOSS TO KANSAS CITY.
