In area sports action, East Grand Forks dominated Crookston 76-42 in boys’ basketball, while Ada-Borup/West secured a strong 72 to 47 win over Climax-Fisher. Red Lake County topped Sacred Heart 68 to 57, and Fertile-BeltramI bested Mahnomen-Waubun 72 to 53. Other notable victories included Kitten County Central over Goodridge-Grygla 61 to 51, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton edging Park Rapids 65 to 60, and Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal defeating Fosston 62 to 47.

In girls’ basketball, Warren-Alvarado-Oslo cruised past Climax-Fisher 63 to 31, and Sacred Heart downed Fosston 60 to 39. Fertile-BeltramI fell to Mahnomen-Waubun 49 to 39, while Kittson County Central overpowered Northern Freeze 80 to 49. Other highlights included a massive 100 to 36 win for Kelliher-Northome over Lake of the Woods, Nevis defeating Red Lake 71 to 22, and Hawley posting an impressive 90 to 50 victory against Crookston.

On the ice, Crookston boys’ hockey shut out Park Rapids 7 to 0, and in girls’ hockey, Crookston delivered a decisive 7 to 1 win over Thief River Falls.

In college football, North Dakota State claimed a thrilling 35 to 32 victory over Montana State in the NCAA FCS Championship. Men’s college basketball saw Minnesota fall to Ohio State 89 to 88 in double overtime. Wrapping up with the NBA, the Minnesota Timberwolves edged the Los Angeles Clippers 108 to 106 in a nail-biter.

Big night in local sports tonight as the Roseau Boys and Girls hockey teams head to Warroad tonight.  Those games will be covered live on wild one oh two by wild one oh two sports broadcaster Jason Merrit. Other area games going on include Crookston at East Grand Forks, Detroit Lakes at Morris-Benson, Grand Rapids at Bemidji, Moorhead at St. Cloud, and Fort Frances at International Falls. On the boy’s hockey side Red Lake Falls faces Kittson County Central, East Grand Forks visits Detroit Lakes, and Thief River Falls travels to Bemidji and Moorhead. Wrestling action includes B-G-MR and Moorhead at the Frayzee triangular, with Crookston competing at Fertile-Beltrami and Barnesville hosting a triangular with Border West and Pelican Rapids. In girl’s basketball, highlights include Ada-Borup/West at Climax-Fisher, Northern Freeze at Fertile-Beltrami, East Grand Forks at Warroad, and Park Rapids at Thief River Falls, along with a slate of other games across the region. Boy’s basketball features Kittson County Central at Climax-Fisher, Fertile-Beltrami at East Grand Forks, Sacred Heart at Warren-Alvarado-Oslo, and Stephen-Argyle at Badger-Greenbush-Middle River, among others, including Park Rapids at Thief River Falls and Goodridge-Grigla at Northern Freeze. In professional sports, the Minnesota Wild host St. Louis, and the Minnesota Timberwolves are on the road against New Orleans.
