Terrance “Terry” Wiczek was born on January 6, 1950 in Little Falls, MN to John and Lucille (Skochenski) Wiczek and died on Wednesday, March 6th in Baudette, MN.
Terry was raised in Rainier, MN and following his graduation from Falls Senior High, he enlisted in the US Army and served as a helicopter crew chief in Vietnam for two tours. Upon discharge from the Army, he began his career as a natural gas serviceman with Inter City Gas. He married his wife of 50 years, Sandy, in 1973.
The couple moved to Baudette in 1975 where they raised their family. Terry continued to work in the natural gas industry for all of his working years. He also served in his community in many volunteer roles, including as an EMT, firefighter, and worked part-time as a police officer for the City of Baudette and also as a deputy for the Sheriff’s Department.
Terry was an avid fisherman having participated in many fishing tournaments along with trout fishing trips in Canada with close friends. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, hockey, golfing and was extremely talented in both auto mechanics and bodywork. He blessed his family with many vehicles to drive throughout the years and his most recent project was restoring a 1955 Chevy. He could fix nearly anything with a motor.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; two daughters, Stephanie (Greg) Haugen, JJ (Darren) Olson; three grandchildren, Blake (Heather) Olson, Brady and Cooper Olson; great-granddaughter Aurora; siblings, Sandy (Bob) Olean, Bill Wiczek, Judy (Randy) Olafson, Jean Holm, and Dennis Wiczek and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Timothy and Bob Wiczek; and daughter, Rachael.
A memorial service will take place at 10:00 am Monday, March 11th at First Lutheran Church, Baudette with a visitation an hour prior.
