A Mass of Christian burial for Tom Billberg of Roseau, MN will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 5-7PM with a prayer service at 7PM followed by the rosary service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseau, MN. Interment will be held at a later date in Palmville Cemetery in Wannaska, MN.
On Saturday, February 19, Thomas Lee Billberg loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away at Life Care Medical Center in Roseau, MN,
Tom was born on January 25, 1947, to Ellwood and Dorothy (Larson) Billberg in Roseau, MN. Growing up in northern Minnesota, Tom enjoyed playing hockey, football, and any sport he could find. Tom spent his childhood on the Billberg Farm before moving with his family to Roseau when he was 13 years old. Here he gained a love for all animals, spending time in the outdoors, as well a passion for hunting, and fishing. In college choir, he met and later married the love of his life Arlene Ubel. They raised their family in Roseau, MN.
Tom used his talents of black smithing, machining, and building in several careers. He owned his own business Billberg’s Welding and Repair, worked for Marvin’s Windows, and retired from Norfarm Seeds in 2014.
Tom had a passion for his family. He enjoyed watching their events as the loudest cheerleader in the gym, spending time with his grandchildren and extended family, traveling to places near and far, and playing cards with his closest friends. For Christmas 2022, Tom’s wish of a whole family Christmas came true. Everyone was able to make it home placing an everlasting smile on his face.
Tom’s humor, wit, thoughtfulness, generosity, pinocle prowess, tricky eyebrow and love will be missed along with his friendly wave from the front porch.
Tom leaves behind his wife, Arlene; children Dea (Roy) Casey, Cory (Matt) Arends, Lenni Billberg, JT Billberg and Dow (David) Storey; grandchildren Max Arends, Mikaela (Troy) Henne, Sydney Arends, Ty Casey, Jackson Arends and Derek Storey; Brother Greg Billberg, In-laws, Bernice Piechowski, Rita (Roger) Krause, Joan (Gary) Aery, David Ubel, Lorene Hanson, & Dennis (Tabitha) Ubel.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ellwood & Dorothy Billberg; In-laws George & Leonora Ubel; sister-in-law Sherry Billberg and brother-in-law Blair Piechowski.
