58 YEAR OLD GARY AUSTAD OF LAKE BRONSON WAS KILLED IN A TWO VEHICLE CRASH LATE SATURDAY NIGHT (11:30 P.M.) ON HIGHWAY ONE, JUST WEST OF GOODRIDGE IN PENNINGTON COUNTY.
AUSTAD FAILED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND COLLIDED WITH AN S-U-V DRIVEN BY 31 YEAR OLD RITA GIDDINGS OF ROSEAU. SHE AND A PASSENGER, 9 YEAR OLD GABRIEL REESE OF ROSEAU, WERE TAKEN TO A THIEF RIVER FALLS HOSPITAL WITH NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES.
BOTH VEHICLES WENT INTO THE DITCH.
AUSTAD WAS NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT, AND DIED AT THE SCENE.
