A public visitation for Harriet Kile of Roseau, will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October, 12, 2021 at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Interment will be at Camp Ripley in Little Falls, MN at a later date.
Harriet Lou Kile passed away at home on October 2, 2021, at the age of 81.
Harriet was born in Warroad, MN, on March 26, 1940 to Robert and Leona (Whilse) Pommerening.
She grew up in Warroad, graduating from Warroad High School in 1958. After high school she attended business school at Northland Community College for one year.
On April 23, 1960 Harriet married Larry Kile in Warroad. Over the years they lived in Oklahoma, New Jersey, Texas, Germany, Alabama, Okinawa, New Mexico, and Colorado, finally settling in Roseau in 1993. Harriet worked at various jobs while following Larry during his military career. During their time in Colorado she worked for Allied Cash Register Company for 17 years.
Harriet enjoyed crocheting and quilting and she was a licensed cake decorator instructor. She made many fancy cakes for weddings and special events. She loved animals, especially dogs, and was an avid bowler. She was very competitive! She was a member of First United Lutheran Church in Roseau and played in the bell choir.
Surviving Harriet are her husband Larry; children Joe Kile of Roseau and Tracy (Stephanie) Kile of Panama City, FL; siblings Clarice (Jim) Tholand, Helen Marshall, Anna (Steve) Polk, Clarence Rinkenberger Jr., Joyce (Robert) Hahn, Sharon Moran; mother-in-law, Elsie Lindberg; grandchildren Ryan Kile, Brandon Kile, Jessica Wesser, Melanie Kile, Stephanie Kile, Sharell Gonzales, Timothey Kile; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Dennis; and brother, George Pommerening.
