It is with immense sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin Carrold Rafdahl – an unconditionally loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend.
Kevin was one of four children born to Leonard and Linda (Jackson) Rafdahl in Bemidji, Mn on Sunday September 11, 1960. He was raised and lived in the area where he attended and received a degree from Bemidji Votech in Autobody Mechanics after completing the 10th grade and receiving his GED early. Kevin had met and started dating his wife Nancy (Hough) in the year of 1976. Then on August 20th, 1983, they had decided to marry and spent 40 beautiful years together. In 1989 they decided to make a change and move north to Salol, Mn to begin their careers at Marvin where Kevin was an outstanding, happy-go-lucky hard worker for more than 30 years.
Kevin was a kind-hearted, caring family man with two daughters with whom he loved spending time with in any way he could – especially outdoors if possible. He absolutely loved nature and would try his best to show his family all of the beauty there was in it to appreciate. During the day, Kevin enjoyed spending what time he possibly could either being out in the woods hunting or on a dock or lake fishing with a cool breeze on his face. On these kinds of days, nothing would be better to him than firing up the grill to treat his family to some steak for supper. When the sun began to set and night would fall, you’d be able to find Kevin telling jokes with a huge smile on his face. He’d be surrounded by family and friends, circled around a bonfire – complete with his favorite classic rock music playing in the background to bring an end to the perfect day.
Though things had gotten to be fairly difficult at times, Kevin was always the type of man to push forward, find strength, and never give up. It was that drive and willpower, as well as overwhelming support and encouragement from his loved ones that helped him carry on each day. Kevin had been fighting a long, ongoing battle lasting more than 3 years of not only metastatic cancer – but also other numerous medical conditions such as high blood pressure, COPD, and A-Fib – just to name a few. Heartbreakingly, his battle came to and end on Friday, August 2nd, 2024 at the young age of 63. Kevin’s willpower, strength, and love for his family are what we have to thank for getting the amazing opportunity to spend as much time together as we did. We are so grateful for the time that we have gotten, and we will always cherish the memories we made along the way for the rest of our lives.
Kevin will be deeply and greatly missed, loved, and cherished by all his friends and family that know and love him. Included in these survivors are as follows:
