THE MINNESOTA BUREAU OF CRIMINAL APPREHENSION IS INVESTIGATING AFTER AN INMATE AT BELTRAMI COUNTY JAIL IN BEMIDJI ATTEMPTING TO COMMIT SUICIDE ON WEDNESDAY. THE INMATE WAS EVENTUALLY TAKEN TO A FARGO AREA MEDICAL CENTER. NO FURTHER DETAILS WERE GIVEN.
MINNESOTA ANNOUNCED THEIR LARGEST EVER SINGLE INVESTMENT IN BROADBAND FUNDING, AT $100. THEY SAY IT WILL HELP TO SERVE AN ADDITIONAL 33,000 HOUSEHOLDS IN THE STATE.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR DAVID TRANGSRUD OF BADGER WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY (11 AM) AT ROSE FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN ROSEAU, WITH VISITATION AN HOUR PRIOR. VISITATION WILL ALSO BE SUNDAY (2-4 PM) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR REINHART ZARLING JR. OF BADGER WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE PHOENIX IN WARROAD ON DECEMBER 11 (11 AM) REINHART WAS 66.
A Celebration of Life for Richard Saurdiff of Warroad will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla at 11:00am with a visitation an hour prior. There will also be a Visitation on Friday, December 9 from 5:00-7:00pm at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Burial will take place in the spring. The Family requests that people wear flannel in honor of Richard.

SNOW PLOW DRIVERS AND PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEES IN ST LOUIS COUNTY ARE CLOSER TO AUTHORIZING A STRIKE AFTER RECEIVING WHAT IS CALLED A FINAL OFFER FROM THE COUNTY. IT’S A SIMILAR CONTRACT FROM 2023-2025 THAT WOULD INCLUDE A 3% GENERAL WAGE INCREASE EACH YEAR, AND A $400 LUMP SUM PAYMENT THAT HAS BEEN ACCEPTED BY OTHER COUNTIES. UNION REPS SAY THE OFFER FALLS SHORT OF THEIR EXPECTATIONS, NOT ONLY ECONOMICALLY, BUT ALSO IN SOME AREAS OF SAFETY.
EARLIER THIS WEEK, NURSES AT 16 MINNESOTA HOSPITALS THAT WERE SET TO STRIKE AT THE BEGINNING OF NEXT WEEK, REACHED A TENTATIVE AGREEMENT AND CALLED OFF THEIR STRIKES. THEY WILL VOTE TO RATIFY THAT NEXT WEEK.
