FROM THE ROSEAU SCHOOL, MAKENA HEDLUND WAS ALSO SELECTED AT THE LOCAL LEVEL, AND PUT UP FOR CONSIDERATION AT THE STATE LEVEL.
THE FILING PERIOD FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR A ROSEAU COUNTY COMMISSIONER IN DISTRICT 4 WILL BEGIN FEBRUARY 14 AND END FEBRUARY 28. FILING CAN BE DONE WITH THE ROSEAU COUNTY AUDITOR, RECORDER, OR TREASURER. THE SPECIAL ELECTION WOULD TAKE PLACE MAY 9, UNLESS THERE ARE MORE THAN TWO CANDIDATES FILE. THAT WOULD MEAN A PRIMARY IS HELD MAY 9, AND THE GENERAL ELECTION WOULD BE AUGUST 8.
A GREENBUSH MAN IS FACING CHARGES AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY NEARLY STRUCK A SQUAD CAR HEAD-ON AND THEN LED THE TROOPER ON A SEVEN-MILE CHASE. 44-YEAR OLD JEFFREY TRAVIS PETERSON IS CHARGED WITH FELONY FLEEING A PEACE OFFICER IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ALONG WITH OTHER GROSS-MISDEMEANORS AND MORE. THE EVENT OCCURRED ON HIGHWAY 32 IN ROSEAU COUNTY, WHEN THE TROOPER HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID BEING HIT AS PETERSON WAS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE. HE ALLEGEDLY APPEARED INTOXICATED AND HAD AN OPEN CONTAINER. HE DECLINED TO PERFORM FIELD SOBRIETY TESTS OR SUBMIT A BREATHE TEST.
