ERIC REINBOLD, WHO IS IN CUSTODY AND ACCUSED OF KILLING HIS WIFE LAST YEAR NEAR OKLEE, IS NOW CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT, FOURTH DEGREE ASSAULT, AND ATTEMPTED ESCAPE AFTER EVENTS AT THE PENNINGTON COUNTY JAIL ON JUNE 4. ACCORDING TO DOCUMENTS, REINBOLD USED A SHARPENED PENCIL AS A WEAPON WHILE PUSHING OFFICERS TO FLOOR, HOLDING THE PENCIL TO ONE OFFICERS THROAT, AND CONFISCATING THEIR BADGE IN AN ATTEMPT GO OPEN JAIL DOORS. THE BADGE WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN DOING SO, AND A THIRD OFFICER WITH USE OF A TASER WAS ABLE TO ASSIST TO TAKING REINBOLD DOWN AND GETTING HIM HANDCUFFED. HE’LL HAVE A COURT APPEARANCE TODAY.
CROOKSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS WILL HOLD A COMMUNITY MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT A REFERENDUM TO CONSTRUCT A MULTI-USE FACILITY FOR THE DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY. GETTING IT PASSED WOULD SOLVE CURRENT ISSUES WITH LEASING FACILITIES FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA-CROOKSTON. THE PROPOSAL WOULD INCLUDE AN ARTIFICIAL TURF FIELD, EIGHT LANE TRACK, PRESS BOX, NEW GRAND STAND, ALONG WITH CONCESSIONS AND BATHROOMS.
A 20-YEAR OLD MAN FROM FERGUS FALLS DROWNED IN DETROIT LAKE ON JUNE 8 AFTER JUMPING IN OFF OF A PONTOON. AFTER ABOUT A THREE HOUR SEARCH, THEY FOUND THE BODY OF JETTE KRISTON FRANDSON. THREE FRIENDS THAT WERE WITH SAID HIGH WINDS BEGAN TO PUSH THE PONTOON AWAY FROM THE SPOT THAT FRANDSON JUMPED IN. EACH OF THEM MADE SEPARATE ATTEMPTS TO RESCUE HIM. THE INCIDENT REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
EARLIER THIS WEEK, A FARGO MAN DIED AFTER A COLLISION WITH A FREIGHTLINER TRACTOR ON STATE HIGHWAY 59 NEAR MAHNOMEN. THE VICTIM WAS IDENTIFIED AS 37-YEAR OLD JOSHUA JAMES KRAFT, AND THE MINNESOTA STATE PATROL SAYS HE WAS NOT WEARING A SEATBELT AT THE TIME. THE DRIVER OF THE TRACTOR SUFFERED NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES.
