AN EAST GRAND FORKS MAN HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO 18 MONTHS FOR ASSAULTED TWO WOMEN. 34-YEAR OLD JOEL DELONAIS ENTERED A GUILTY NORGAARD PLEA TO THE ASSAULT BACK IN JULY. THAT PLEA INDICATES THE PERSON DOESN’T REMEMBER COMMITTING THE CRIME, OFTEN DUE TO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL, BUT ACKNOWLEDGES THE EVIDENCE AGAINST THEM. HE HAD APPROACHED THE GROUP OF WOMEN AND CONFRONTED THEM ABOUT STEALING FROM HIM BEFORE THE PHYSICAL ASSAULT.
THE STATE OF MINNESOTA HAS SEEN 776 OFFICIAL SUBMISSIONS OF DESIGNS FOR THE NEW STATE FLAG AND SEAL, THAT WAS AS OF TUESDAY MORNING. THEY CAN CONTINUE TO BE SUBMITTED UNTIL OCTOBER 30. ACCORDING TO DATA, NURSING ASSISTANTS ARE THE 6TH MOST IN DEMAND JOB IN MINNESOTA AND THAT WAS MADE WORSE BY THE PANDEMIC.
In 2022, drug overdose deaths remained at historic high levels but held steady compared to 2021, per the Minnesota Department of Health. The report, released on Thursday, found a slight decrease in overdose deaths from 2021 (1,354) to 2022 (1,343), based on preliminary death certificate data. This decrease in deaths is more noticeable in Greater Minnesota, with a 5% reduction in fatal overdoses from 2021 to 2022. MDH says that fentanyl was involved in 62% of fatal overdoses in 2022.
THERE HAVE BEEN SOME DELAYS IN A ROAD PROJECT ON THE NORLAND ROAD, AND THEY ARE NOW EXPECTING WORK TO BE COMPLETED AND THE ROAD RE-OPENED SOMETIME AROUND OCTOBER 26. THAT IS A CULVERT PROJECT THAT HAS BEEN ONGOING.
