THERE IS A ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD MEETING TODAY. SOME ITEMS FROM THE AGENDA ARE TO APPROVE MANY 2025 ITEMS SUCH AS THEIR MEETING SCHEDULE, COMMISSIONER PAY AND PER DIEM, ELECTED OFFICIALS SALARIES, THE 2025 PROPERTY TAX LEVY, AND BUDGET. THEY WILL LOOK TO APPROVE A HIRE FOR TRANSFER STATION/DEMOLITION LANDFILL.
THE MINNESOTA DNR WILL BE CONDUCTING AERIAL ELK SURVEYS IN THE COMING WEEKS AS CONDITIONS ALLOW. THEY WILL SURVEY THE KITTSON AND GRYGLA HERDS AND ALSO THE HERD IN BOTH MINNESOTA AND MANITOBA. THEY USE THE SURVEY RESULTS TO MONITOR ELK POPULATIONS AND HELP MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT FUTURE ELK MANAGEMENT AND HARVEST REGULATIONS.
THE STATE OF MINNESOTA RANKED 3RD IN VOLUNTEERISM IN A STUDY BY AMERICORPS. ACCORDING THE NUMBERS, 40.3% OF ALL MINNESOTANS VOLUNTEERED IN SOME WAY LAST YEAR, CONTRIBUTING $4 BILLION IN ECONOMIC VALUE TO THE STATE. UTAH AND VERMONT WERE THE ONLY STATES TO RANK HIGHER. MINNESOTA’S PERCENTAGE WAS NOW HIGHER THAN PRE-PANDEMIC NUMBERS.

A Funeral Service for Ronald “Ronnie” Olson of Roseau, MN will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 11:00AM at Roseau Community Church. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ronnie passed away at the age of 89.
A funeral Service for Luella A. Cass of Warroad, MN will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 10:00AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 5-7PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place in Spruce Cemetery.
Luella passed away at the age of 72.
