AT MONDAY’S ROSEAU CIVIC AND COMMERCE BANQUET, NEW MEMBER NOMINATIONS INCLUDED ADELE CUMMINGS WITH CITIZENS STATE BANK, JULIE PARKER WITH THE NORLAND INN AND SUITES, DAN LUCAS OF LUCAS FURNITURE AND FLOORING, JOSEE LUNDGREN AT THE SKINERY, CASSIE MAXWELL AT THE LAUGHTER PATCH INTEGRATIVE HEALTH AND ENERGETIC HEALING, TERI LARSON AT GOLDEN VALLEY PHOTOGRAPHY. BOARD MEMBERS THAT ARE STEPPING DOWN AS THEIR TERM CONCLUDED WERE EMILY BAUGHER, DANIELLE BYFUGLIEN, AND SARA WINKLER.

IT LAUNCHED ON SUNDAY NEAR THE PEMBINA CROSSING. IT WILL REMAIN STATIONED ON THE CANADIAN SIDE OF THE BORDER, THEY DID HIGHLIGHT THEIR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE US BORDER PATROL.

A WOMAN ACCUSED OF SWINDLING THE RED LAKE COUNTY CO-OP OUT OF $570,000 IS BEGIN HELD ON $5 MILLION BOND. STEPHANIE MICHELLE NIPP OF MONTANA ALLEGEDLY MISREPRESENTED HERSELF AS AN AFFILIATE WITH A COMPANY THAT THE CO-OP WAS PAYING FOR A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT. SHE USED EMAIL TO REQUEST PAYMENT ON AN INVOICE THAT WAS ACCURATE, BUT THE PAYMENT DETAILS PUT THE MONEY INTO AN ACCOUNT SHE HAD OPENED. THERE IS A POSSIBLE 20 YEAR PRISON SENTENCE.

DEER HUNTERS IN NORTHWEST MINNESOTA HAD A GOOD YEAR. NUMBERS ARE SHOWING AN OVER ALL 8% INCREASE IN THE HARVEST. STATEWIDE THE HARVEST WAS ROUGHLY 170,000 DEER, UP 7%. THE ARCHERY SEASON PLAYED A ROLE IN THAT NUMBER BEING HIGHER, AS THAT WAS UP 16% STATEWIDE.

THE LAKE OF THE WOODS PLAN WAS LAST UPDATED IN 2018. THE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD IS ALREADY OPEN AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16.

A Memorial Service for Mark M. Emery of Greenbush, MN will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 10:00AM at United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5-7PM with a prayer service at 7PM at United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush, MN. Interment will take place at Bethel Cemetery.
Mark passed away at the age of 44.

A Memorial Service for Erling S. Olson of Roseau, MN will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025 at 11:00am at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau, MN. Interment will take place at a later date.
Erling Olson passed away at the age of 82.
