AFTER BEING DISCUSSED AT A RECENT ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL MEETING, THE PROGRAM WAS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY. LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER HAS ENTERED INTO A SPONSORSHIP WITH ROSEAU AND WARROAD POLICE TO ENCOURAGE YOUNG BIKE RIDERS TO WEAR HELMETS. THOSE OFFICERS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAND OUT CERTIFICATES FOR FREE ICE CREAM TREATS TO KIDS WHO ARE DOING SO, FROM EITHER EARL’S DRIVE-IN OR SCOOPS ICE CREAM PARLOR.
AS LOCAL 4-H’ERS PREPARE FOR EXHIBITING AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIR, HOPING TO EARN AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXHIBIT AT THE STATE FAIR, LT GOVERNOR PEGGY FLANAGAN WILL BE MEETING WITH 4-H’ERS TODAY IN LITCHFIELD THAT ARE PREPARING AND HOPING TO DO THE SAME. 4-H IS THE LARGEST YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IN THE STATE, WITH ROUGHLY 65,000 PARTICIPANTS EACH YEAR. IN TOTAL, THE PROGRAM ENROLLS ROUGHLY SIX MILLION YOUTH ANNUALLY.
THE WARROAD AREA COMMUNITY FUND HAS ANNOUNCED RECIPIENTS OF LOCAL GRANT DOLLARS. FUNDS IN EXCESS OF $58,000 IS BEING DISPERSED.
In the case Worth v. Jacobson, the three-judge panel ruled that Minnesota’s ban on concealed carry by young adults is unconstitutional under the Second Amendment. The ruling overturned Minnesota’s ban on permits to carry for anyone under the age of 21, which has been on the books since 2003.
A LOCAL TALENT SHOWCASE WILL BE ON DISPLAY TONIGHT FOR THE THURSDAY EVENING CONCERT AT ROSEAU’S RIVERVIEW PARK GAZEBO. THAT WILL BEGIN AS USUAL AT 6:30. THE NORTH REGION PREGNANCY CARE CENTER IS SERVING THE FUNDRAISING MEAL, WITH A BAKED POTATO BAR AND ROOT BEER FLOATS.
JEAN PEDERSON OF ROSEUA AND ON TVEIT OF WARROAD HAVE BEEN NAMED ORSEAU COUNTY’S SENIOR CITIZEN VOLUNTEER AWARDS WINNERS. JEAN HAS BEEN PRESIDENT OF THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY FOR THE PAST SEVEN YEARS, VOLUNTEERS AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIR AND IS HEAVILY INVOLVED IN HER CHURCH. RON IS A BOARD MEMBER OF THE WARROAD HISTORICAL SOCIETY, A MEMBER OF ROSEAU ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE “OPERATION ROUNDUP” AND INVOLVED IN HIS CHURCH ALSO.
