THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL HAS ACCEPTED DONATIONS FROM POLARIS INDUSTRIES, BORDER BANK, AND LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER FOR THE CITY’S NIGHTS OF LIGHTS CHRISTMAS PROJECT AT THE CITY PARK.

THE CITY COUNCIL HAS APPROVED A ONE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLAR LINE OF CREDIT FOR THE ROSEAU ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY, WHICH COULD BE USED FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT LOANS OVER THE NEXT TWO YEARS. THE EDA LOANED MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS TO NEW BUSINESSES IN 2021, LARGELY DEPLETING THE EDA LOAN FUND.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL APPROVED ON-SALE LIQUOR LICENSES FOR EIGHT ESTABLISHMENTS IN THE CITY, FIVE INCLUDE SUNDAY SALES. THE EIGHT ARE FOR THE AMERICAN LEGION, BRICKHOUSE, GENE’S, NORTH COUNTRY INN, OAKCREST GOLF CLUB, ROSEAU MOTEL AND DINER, SPARETIME BOWL AND LEGENDS, AND THE POUR HOUSE. THREE-TWO BEER LICENSES FOR OFF-SALE AT HOLIDAY AND SUPER ONE FOODS WERE ALSO APPROVED.

THERE IS ROAD CONSTRUCTION ON THE MOOSE RIVER WEST ROAD THAT WILL CONTINUE THROUGH NOVEMBER 12TH. THE SECTION OF ROAD FROM GATES CORNER TO THE NORTH MOOSE DIKE IS CLOSED.

THE ROSEAU RIVER WATERSHED DISTRICT HAS VOTED TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THE ROSEAU LAKE PROJECT, DESPITE CRITICISM FROM LOCAL LANDOWNERS. THE PROJECT SEEKS TO MITIGATE FLOOD RISK IN THE DISTRICT AND RESTORE WETLAND HABITATS AND IMPROVE WATER QUALITY IN THE WATERSHED. LANDOWNERS CLAIM THE SYSTEM OF DIKES WILL MAKE FARMLAND NEAR THE PROJECT UNUSABLE.

MOST PROVIDERS IN THE STATE SHOULD RECEIVE THEIR SHIPMENTS OF THE PFIZER VACCINE BY THE WEEKEND, AS KIDS 5-11 YEARS OF AGE CAN NOW BEGIN RECEIVING THAT VACCINE. THE STATE HAS A NEW WEBPAGE “MN.GOV/VAXFORKIDS” THAT HAS INFO ON THE VACCINE AND LOCATIONS WHERE FAMILIES CAN FIND IT.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR DOUGLAS HOVERSON OF STRATHCONA WILL BE HELD SATURDAY (10:30 AM) AT GRACE EVANGELICAL CHURCH IN STRATHCONA. A PRIVATE BURIAL WILL TAKE PLACE AT A LATER DATE. VISITATION WILL BE TOMORROW (5-7) ALSO AT THE CHURCH, AND ONE HOUR PRIOR TO SATURDAY’S SERVICE. DOUG HOVERSON WAS 60.

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR GREG D. DAHL OF THIEF RIVER FALLS, FORMERLY OF GATZKE, WILL BE HELD FRIDAY (1:30 PM) AT BETHESDA LUTHERAN CHURCH IN SKIME. VISITATION WILL BE ONE HOUR PRIOR. GREG DAHL WAS 63.

WITH WORK STILL BEING DONE ON THE ROSEAU HIGH SCHOOL GYM, THE VETERANS DAY PROGRAM WILL AGAIN BE IN RECORDED RADIO FORM ONLY. WE WILL HAVE AIRINGS OF THAT PROGRAM ON VETERANS’ DAY AT 11 AM AND 8 PM.
WARROAD SCHOOL IS HOSTING A VETERANS DAY PROGRAM AT 9:30.
