IN COURT ON TUESDAY, DAVID ALLEN CORNELIUSEN OF WARROAD PLEADED GUILTY, WITH A NORGAARD PLEA, TO THE MURDER OF HIS WIFE IN AUGUST OF 2023. A NORGAARD PLEA ADMITS THE EVIDENCE IS THERE, BUT HE DOES NOT REMEMBER COMMITTING IT. HE SAID HE SHOT HIS WIFE AFTER A VERBAL ARGUMENT. SENTENCING IS DECEMBER 16.

FOR THOSE IN ROSEAU COUNTY WHO ARE LOOKING TO VOTE ABSENTEE BEFORE TUESDAY, THE AUDITOR’S OFFICE HAS ADDITIONAL HOURS FOR VOTING. THEY ARE OPEN NORMAL HOURS TODAY AND TOMORROW, BUT WILL ALSO BE THERE FROM 9-3 ON BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AND FROM 8A-5P ON MONDAY. FOR THOSE IN MAIL BALLOT PRECINCTS WHO DID NOT GET THEIR BALLOT INTO THE MAIL SOON ENOUGH AND ARE LOOKING TO DROP OFF, THAT CAN BE DONE ON TUESDAY FROM 7A-8P.

THERE WAS A REPORT OF A CRASH LAST NIGHT ON HIGHWAY 59 NEAR WINGER, WHERE A CAR HIT A HORSE IN THE ROAD. 67 YEAR OLD PEGGY DAIMON SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES, WHILE HER THREE GRANDSONS IN THE CAR SUFFERED NO INJURIES.

THE ROSEAU TIMES REGION ELABORATED ON THE PUBLIC HEARING THAT WAS HELD LAST WEEK WITHIN THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD MEETING TO DISCUSS THE ORDINANCE FOR CANNABIS SALES IN THE COUNTY, WHERE A STATE LAW GOES INTO EFFECT ON JANUARY 1. THE VOTE WAS UNANIMOUS TO MAKE THE ORDINANCE AS STRICT AS POSSIBLE. ROSEAU COUNTY WILL HAVE NO CHOICE TO ALLOW FOR UP TO TWO LICENSES TO BE ISSUED. THAT IS A NUMBER DETERMINED BY POPULATION. CITIES AND TOWNSHIPS CAN ALLOW FOR MORE IF THEY DO NOT DEFER TO THE COUNTY.
