ROSEAU CITY POLICE CHIEF WARD ANDERSON IS RETIRING AND THE CITY HAS BEEN LOOKING AT CANDIDATES TO FILL THAT POSITION BEGINNING IN JANUARY. AFTER INTERVIEWING THREE CANDIDATES, THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL MADE A CONDITIONAL OFFER TO POLICE FORCE VETERAN MARC HODGE.
55-YEAR OLD STEVEN PIECHOWSKI OF FELTON, MINNESOTA PLEADED GUILTY TO FIVE AMENDED CHARGES AND ONE EXISTING CHARGE RELATED TO AN EIGHT CAR CRASH IN GRAND FORKS COUNTY IN JULY OF 2021. THE MOST SEVERE CHARGE IS A FELONY NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE, WITH OTHER FELONIES AMENDED TO MISDEMEANORS. THE MOST SEVERE CARRIES A POSSIBLE FIVE YEAR PRISON SENTENCE. THAT CRASH OCCURRED ON HIGHWAY 2 NEAR THE GRAND FORKS AIRPORT.
