THE ROSEAU COUNTY SHERIFF HAS RELEASED THE NAME OF A DECEASED MALE THAT WAS FOUND DURING A CALL TO A POSSIBLE HOUSE FIRE IN STRATHCONA ON NOVEMBER 4. THEY HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS 38-YEAR OLD SEDDREX G. GATES OF BRAINERD. THE CASE REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
MINNESOTA’S CORN PRODUCTION FORECAST FOR NOVEMBER WAS UNCHANGED FROM THAT OF OCTOBER, WHILE THE SOYBEAN FORECAST WAS DOWN 2.0 BUSHELS PER ACRE FROM OCTOBER. SUGARBEETS WERE DOWN SLIGHTLY AS WELL FROM THE OCTOBER NUMBERS.
FOR THE FIRST TIME EVERY, MINNESOTA IS SENDING MORE WOMEN TO CONGRESS THAN MEN. AFTER ELECTIONS LAST WEEK, MINNESOTA’S 10 PERSON DELEGATION IN CONGRESS CONSISTS OF SEVEN WOMEN (6 OF THEM DFL) AND ONLY THREE MEN.
NOW IS THE TIME TO CONTACT THE ROSEAU COUNTY ASSESSOR’S OFFICE IF YOU OWN AND OCCUPY A RESIDENCE THAT YOU DID NOT ON JANUARY 2ND OF THIS YEAR TO APPLY FOR A HOMESTEAD CREDIT. THIS WOULD ALSO APPLY IF YOU OCCUPY A RESIDENCE OWNED BY A RELATIVE. THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 31. THERE IS SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR AGRICULTURAL PROPERTY AS WELL, IF THE LAND IS BEING FARMED, BUT YOU DO NOT RESIDE ON THAT PROPERTY.
IN LAST TUESDAY’S ELECTION, THERE WERE 8663 VOTES CAST IN ROSEAU COUNTY. THERE IS ONLY A POSSIBLE 9440 IN ROSEAU COUNTY, THAT EQUATES TO A 92% TURNOUT. THERE WERE ALSO 886 FIRST TIME VOTERS. THE STATE OF MINNESOTA APPEARS TO BE HEADED FOR A TOP FINISH IN STATEWIDE VOTER TURNOUT, ALTHOUGH THE NUMBERS ARE NOT FINAL.
SECOND HALF TAXES ON FARM CLASSIFICATIONS AND MOBILE HOMES ARE DUE THIS WEEK, NOVEMBER 15, TO THE ROSEAU COUNTY TREASURER. KEEP IN MIND, THE COURTHOUSE WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY.
Funeral Services for Lucinda Hoops of Baudette, MN will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baudette, MN. Visitation will be from 5- 7pm Sunday November 17th at the church and Mass of Christian Burial at 1030 AM with Visitation starting 1 hour before on November 18th.
Lucinda Passed away at the age of 54.
