ROSEAU COUNTY VETERANS SERVICE OFFICER MARTY HOWES SAYS THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FROM MINNESOTA VETS WHO HAVE BEEN FINANCIALLY IMPACTED BY THE PANDEMIC.
THE MINNESOTA V.A. WILL AWARD ONE-TIME GRANTS OF ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS.
THERE ARE MORE THAN A THOUSAND VETERANS IN ROSEAU COUNTY.

 

THE ROSEAU SCHOOL HAS RE-SCHEDULED PROM TO MAY 23RD.

 

THE GRAND FORKS HERALD REPORTS NORTH DAKOTANS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SELF-QUARANTINE FOR FOURTEEN DAYS AFTER RETURNING FROM MINNESOTA, UNLESS THEY WORK IN AN ESSENTIAL AREA.

AN UNLIMITED NUMBER OF BEAR LICENSES ARE AVAILABLE IN A NO-QUOTA AREA IN FAR NORTHWESTERN MINNESOTA.

 

THE ASSOCIATION OF MINNESOTA COUNTIES HELD A WEBINAR MONDAY MORNING ON COVID-19 AND IT’S IMPACT ON COUNTIES.
SIXTY-SEVEN OF THE STATE’S EIGHTY-SEVEN COUNTIES RESPONDED TO AN OPERATIONS SURVEY DONE BY A.M.C., WHICH SHOWED THAT 88% ARE USING REMOTE BOARD MEETING TECHNOLOGY;
AND 74% ARE NOT CURRENTLY CONSIDERING PROPERTY TAX RELIEF.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY ASSESSOR’S OFFICE IS MAILING PROPERTY VALUATION LETTERS TO TAXPAYERS THIS WEEK.
THOSE VALUATIONS WOULD BE RELATED TO TAXES PAYABLE NEXT YEAR.
ASSESSOR LIZ LUND SAYS PROPERTY OWNERS WON’T SEE MAJOR CHANGES.
FOR THE CURRENT TAX YEAR, THE LARGEST VALUATION INCREASE WAS IN RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES.

 

GREENBUSH-MIDDLE RIVER SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT LARRY GUGGISBERG WILL SERVE ANOTHER YEAR AS PART-TIME INTERIM IN THAT DISTRICT.
HE TOOK THAT JOB LAST SUMMER, AFTER TOM JEROME RESIGNED TO ACCEPT GUGGISBERG’S JOB AS SUPERINTENDENT IN THE ROSEAU SCHOOL DISTRICT.
SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENTS ARE IN SHORT SUPPLY IN MINNESOTA.

 

THE 2020 NORTHWEST MINNESOTA ‘IDEA’ COMPETITION, A PROGRAM OF THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA FOUNDATION, HAS HAD 27 WINNERS SINCE IT’S INCEPTION (SEVERAL OF THOSE FROM ROSEAU COUNTY).
SEAN RANUM, AT THE NORTHWEST FOUNDATION, SAID THE GOAL IS GROWING THE ECONOMY OF THIS REGION;
PERHAPS WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF ANOTHER POLARIS INDUSTRIES OR MARVIN WINDOWS AND DOORS.
