CHRONIC WASTING DISEASE WAS FOUND IN A FEMALE DEER IN DOUGLAS COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA. THE DEER WAS IN CAPTIVITY AND WAS KILLED BY THE OTHER MALE DEER ON THE PROPERTY. THAT BUCK WAS THEN EUTHANIZED, AND IS BEING TESTED FOR CWD AS WELL.
A WEEKLY DNR ENFORCEMENT REPORT SAYS ICE FISHING ACTIVITY IS PICKING UP ON LAKE OF THE WOODS AND COLD WEATHER HAD CONDITIONS IMPROVING RAPIDLY. MOSTLY PORTABLE HOUSES ARE BEING USED, BUT SOME RENTALS ARE OUT, AND SOME RESORTS ARE ALLOWING ATV’S AND SNOWMOBILES ONTO THE ICE.
