STATE SENATOR MARK JOHNSON AND REPRESENTATIVE DEB KIEL ARE EXPRESSING DISAPPOINTMENT OVER A SOYBEAN CRUSHING PLANT’S DECISION TO BUILD IN GRAND FORKS RATHER THAN CROOKSTON AS ORIGINALLY PLANNED. THE TWO ARE PLACING A LARGE CHUNK OF THE BLAME ON THE WALZ ADMINISTRATION, SAYING THEIR SLOW REACTION TO APPROVING AIR QUALITY PERMITS WAS THE HURDLE THAT COULDN’T BE CLEARED TO KEEP CROOKSTON THE FRONT RUNNER. OSHA IS LOOKING INTO THE MONDAY DEATH OF A WORKER AT FRASER SHIPYARDS IN SUPERIOR. A 64-YEAR OLD MAN FROM WATERTOWN, WISCONSIN FELL TO HIS DEATH WHILE WORKING ON A SHIP IN DRYDOCK. PRELIMINARY REPORTS SAY THE MAN WAS STANDING A RAILING WHILE PULLING A TARP, SLIPPED, AND FELL. IT’S THE SECOND DEATH AT THE SHIPYARDS IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS.
