John Burkel of Badger took the oath of office yesterday as he again prepares to represent District 1A in the MN House of Representatives. He also recently received his committee appointments where he will serve as vice-chair on the Environment and Natural Resources Finance and Policy Committee. He called it “an honor” to serve the people.
The Minnesota Association of Townships is proud to announce its 2025 Scholarship Program, which will award up to five $2,000 scholarships to high school juniors. The Scholarship Program is designed to heighten awareness among young people about Minnesota’s grassroots township government.
All students currently enrolled in 11th grade and attending a Minnesota public, private, or parochial school, or a home-study program, are eligible to apply for this program. Applicants should submit a written essay using critical thinking on the topic of promoting awareness of township government by June 1. The essay question for the year revolves around townships providing fire protection.
Minnesotans have until January 15 to enroll in health insurance through MNsure for coverage starting February 1. Financial assistance averaging $560 monthly is available to qualifying households. Extended Contact Center hours are in place to assist last-minute applicants seeking comprehensive health protection.
Kelly Armstrong, Governor of North Dakota, has ordered flags to be flown at full-staff on the date of President Trump’s inauguration. Flags were ordered to be flown at half-staff following the death of President Jimmy Carter for 30 days.
A funeral service for Eleanor M. Snow will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 2pm at Pine Grove Lutheran Church of Wannaska, MN. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church, Interment will be held at Falun Cemetery at a later date.
Eleanor Snow passed away at the age of 102.
