THE MINNESOTA DNR HAS DROPPED DEER FEEDING BANS IN SOUND COUNTIES, BUT HAS ALSO ADDED A COUPLE. FEEDING DEER IS NOW LEGAL IN KOOCHICHING, CLEARWATER, ROSEAU, LAKE OF THE WOODS, MAHNOMEN, MARSHALL, PENNINGTON, RED LAKE, AND A NUMBER OF OTHER COUNTIES, BUT NOW BANNED IN CASS AND ITASCA.
A PLANE WENT DOWN IN POLK COUNTY TUESDAY NIGHT, AND ONE PERSON WAS FOUND DEAD INSIDE THE AIRCRAFT. IT HAPPENED IN A FIELD BETWEEN CLIMAX AND BELTRAMI. THE VICTIM WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE PLANE, WHICH WAS DESCRIBED AS THE TYPE OF AIRPLANE USED FOR CROP DUSTING.
IT’S BEEN A BAD SPRING AND EARLY SUMMER FOR AIR QUALITY IN THE STATE, RECORD-BREAKINGLY BAD. THE MINNESOTA POLLUTION CONTROL AGENCY ISSUED A 23RD AIR QUALITY ALERT YESTERDAY FOR PARTS OF THE STATE, MAKING IT THE MOST ALERTS FOR A SINGLE WILDFIRE SEASON. PREVIOUSLY THE HIGH WAS 21 IN 2021. THE AVERAGE IS ONLY TWO TO THREE ALERTS PER SEASON.
Arthur Terrance Erickson (Terry) passed away on May 30, 2023, one day short of his 75th birthday.
A Memorial Service for Terry will be held on July 1, 2023 at 11:00am with a visitation an hour prior at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau with Interment being at Spruce Cemetery in Roseau.
A Memorial Service for Gerry J. Ode of Badger, MN will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 4:00PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Badger City Cemetery.
Gerry passed away at the age of 65.
THE DOWNTOWN HORNS ARE TOMORROW’S PERFORMERS AT ROSEAU’S RIVERVIEW PARK GAZEBO. THOSE FREE CONCERTS BEGIN AT 6:30 PM. THE BLAZING STARS FIGURE SKATING CLUB WILL BEGIN SERVING A FUNDRAISING MEAL AT 5:30. THIS WEEK WILL ALSO FEATURE FORGIVE THE FORSAKEN, WITH A ROCK SHOW, BEGINNING AT 9 PM.
THE GRAND FORKS AMC MOVIE THEATER IS CLOSING. TOMORROW WILL BE IT’S FINAL DAY OF OPERATION, AS AMC HAS DECIDED NOT TO RENEW IT’S LEASE ON THE BUILDING. IT OPENED IN 1994. THE RIVER CINEMA IN EAST GRAND FORKS WILL NOW BE THE ONLY MOVIE THEATER SERVING THAT AREA.
WARROAD SUMMER THEATER IS PRESENTING WILLY WONKA JR THIS WEEK, WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY AT THE WARROAD HIGH SCHOOL THEATER. TICKETS ARE ONLY $8. IT’S PREFORMED BY THE POPCORN PLAYERS, A CAST OF ROUGHLY 40 YOUTH FROM AROUND THE AREA. WITH MANY PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS ATTENDING AND THE THEATER HOLDING JUST 175 PEOPLE, THEY SUGGEST RESERVATIONS.
