A GRAND FORKS HERALD REPORT SAYS FORMER WARROAD POLICE OFFICER JOSHUA DEMMERLY HAS ENTERED AN ALFORD PLEA ON FELONY SEXUAL ABUSE CHARGES.    AN ALFORD PLEA MEANS DEMMERLY ACKNOWLEDGES THERE IS ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO CONVICT HIM OF CRIMES RELATED TO THE ALLEGED TWO YEAR STALKING AND ABUSE OF A TEENAGER.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  LAST NIGHT,  APPROVED THE HIRE OF SARA HAMMANN AS PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR.  THERE WERE TEN APPLICANTS FOR THE JOB, WHICH HAS BEEN VACANT SINCE THE RESIGNATION OF KATY SPODEN EARLIER THIS YEAR.

HAMMANN IS ORIGINALLY FROM GRAND RAPIDS,  MINNESOTA.

 

LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES  DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL RYAN HALVARSON WILL BE HONORED TOMORROW IN ROSEAU AS AN  A.R.R.M. CARES AWARDS PROGRAM NOMINEE.

SARAH GRAFSTROM WORKS FOR THE ASSOCIATION OF RESIDENTIAL RESOURCES OF MINNESOTA, WHICH IS A TRADE ORGANIZATION FOR RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES IN THE STATE.   THOSE FACILITIES ARE GENERALLY FOR HANDICAPPED ADULTS.

 

THIS IS HOMECOMING WEEK AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL.  THE FRIDAY HOMECOMING PARADE HAS BEEN CHANGED THIS YEAR FROM MAIN AVENUE TO THE SCHOOL CAMPUS AREA.  THE ROUTE WILL GO FROM MESSIAH CHURCH TO THE RAMS SPORTS CENTER AND BACK TO THE SCHOOL AT  6TH AVENUE.

 

TWIN CITIES SPEAKER MARK SCHARENBROICH PRESENTS TWO FREE EVENTS TOMORROW EVENING  ( 5 & 7 PM )  AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL THEATRE ON CREATING COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS.

LIFECARE HEALTH4LIFE IS THE SPONSOR FOR THE ANNUAL WELLNESS SPEAKING EVENT,  WHICH IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

 

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  LAST WEEK,  APPROVED AN AMENDED PUBLIC WORKS BUDGET FOR AN IMPROVED HEATING SYSTEM AT MEMORIAL ARENA.  THE APPROXIMATE  48 THOUSAND DOLLAR PROJECT WOULD CREATE A DIRECT HEAT SYSTEM SIMILAR TO ONE IN PLACE AT THE RAMS SPORTS CENTER.

CITY SUPERINTENDENT DAVID DROWN SAID THE SYSTEM WOULD BE MORE EFFICIENT,  AND WOULD PUT LESS PRESSURE ON THE THREE COMPRESSORS AT THE CITY RINK.

 

THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD,  LAST WEEK,  HEARD FROM BARBARA LUSARDI WITH THE MINNESOTA GEOLOGICAL SURVEY;

WHO TALKED ABOUT A GEOLOGICAL ATLAS PROGRAM.

THERE WOULD BE NO CASH CONTRIBUTION BY THE COUNTY,  BUT IN-KIND CONTRIBUTIONS OF STAFF TIME WOULD BE REQUIRED FOR THE SEVERAL YEAR PROJECT.

LUSARDI ESTIMATED THERE ARE ABOUT FORTY-THREE HUNDRED WATER WELLS IN THE COUNTY,  BUT ABOUT THREE THOUSAND ARE UNACCOUNTED FOR.

THE ROSEAU ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE HAS STARTED WORK ON A FIBER OPTIC BROADBAND PROJECT,  WHICH WOULD BRING HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICE TO HUNDREDS OF HOMES IN ROSEAU COUNTY.
