Mark (Bubba) Mathew Emery, 44, of Greenbush, Minnesota, passed away on January 13, 2025.
Mark was born on November 6, 1980, in Karlstad, Minnesota, to Vernon and Janet (Strozyk) Emery. He was raised in Greenbush and attended Greenbush Middle River High School, graduating in 1999. He later pursued his passion for taxidermy in Pine City, MN, and was working toward his master-level certification with CHS. Mark worked at the CHS Elevator in Greenbush, and he held various other jobs throughout his life. Following in his Uncle LaVern and Grandpa Frank footsteps, he became a third-generation manager at CHS. Mark was baptized and confirmed in Lutheran faith.
Known affectionately by many as “Bubba,” a nickname given to him by his great uncle Norbert, Mark carried that name proudly throughout his life. On November 18, 2019, he married Diana (Tingle) Emery at the Roseau County Courthouse. Mark was a devoted husband and a proud father to their daughters, Alliah, and Ayomi Balmes.
Mark’s love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He found joy in raising animals and pets and had a passion for hunting, fishing, and traveling. He cherished the time spent with family and friends, and his love for music was reflected in his favorite songs, “Freebird” and “Man in the Mirror.” Mark will always be remembered for his humble nature, kindness, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Helping others is truly his legacy.
He is survived by his wife Diana; daughters Alliah and Ayomi Balmes; parents Vernon Emery of Greenbush, MN, and Janet Emery of Greenbush, MN; brother Josh (Sheree) Strozyk of Karlstad, MN; sister Sara (Scott) Garrett of Cedar Hills, MO; nephews Presley Dahlgren of Colorado Springs, CO, Kenai Dahlgren of Roseau, MN, nephews Conway and Sawyer Strozyk of Karlstad, MN and one niece Ella Strozyk of Karlstad, MN.
Mark is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Beth Emery, and his grandparents, Frank and Leona Emery and Tony and Phyllis Strozyk.
