AS THE SCHOOL YEAR STARTS IN ROSEAU COUNTY TUESDAY, THE ROSEAU SCHOOL BOARD LAST WEEK HEARD THAT QUARANTINED HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS MAY BE ABLE TO TEACH FROM HOME. SUPERINTENDENT TOM JEROME SAYS THAT IS LESS LIKELY FOR ELEMENTARY TEACHERS, WHERE A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER MAY BE NECESSARY.
FOR THE 2ND CONSECUTIVE YEAR, THE SUGARBEET HARVEST IN NORTHWEST MINNESOTA AND EASTERN NORTH DAKOTA WILL FACE A CHALLENGE. LAST YEAR A WET FALL BROUGHT THINGS TO A SCREECHING HALT, THIS YEAR, COVID-19 COULD EITHER PREVENT WORKERS FROM COMING TO HELP WITH HARVEST OR RISK BRINGING A SPIKE TO THE REGION. THEY ESTIMATE FARMERS NEED OVER 4000 WORKERS ONCE THE HARVEST IS IN FULL SCALE IN OCTOBER.

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, LAST WEEK, HOSTED VIRTUAL EVENTS ON A 2023 HIGHWAY ELEVEN RE-CONSTRUCTION PROJECT IN THE CITY OF WARROAD. JEFF ERICKSON IS THE PROJECT MANAGER FOR A JOB THAT WILL RE-BUILD HIGHWAY ELEVEN FROM COUNTY ROAD FIVE TO HIGHWAY 313 IN WARROAD. ERICKSON SAYS THE WORK WILL ALSO INVOLVE THE HIGHWAY BRIDGE OVER THE WARROAD RIVER.
