Services for Roger W. Porch will be held at a later date.

Roger Wallace Porch 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Williams on November 15, 2024, surrounded by his family. Roger was born on December 8,1947 in Missoula, MT to Wallace and Vernie Porch. As a young boy and teenager, he helped his dad with logging and farming, and in his spare time he would go fishing in small creeks. Roger played little league baseball and basketball. He went to various schools until he moved to Polson, MT where he played basketball and was captain of his team.

He met Barb when they were freshmen in high school, and they started dating shortly after. After graduating they got married October 19,1966 and moved to Canada where he worked as a logger. After living in Canada for a short time they moved back to Polson, MT where he worked at a sawmill and farmed with his dad. While working full time his dad moved to Minnesota, trusting Roger with the responsibility of calving his 150 cows at the young age of 19.

While living in Polson, they had two children, Tony, and Tiarra. Shortly after Tiarra was born, they moved to Grygla, MN and he farmed with his dad where they ran 600 sheep. Roger and Barb started their own farm raising grain and pigs, and for the next 16 years this is where they raised their family.

Roger and Barb started working at Marvins and moved to Williams, MN in the fall of 1987. They continued working at Marvins for 17 years while also farming, raising sheep, cows, pigs, and chickens. After they retired from Marvins, they started selling at the farmers market, where they were well known for their baked goods, and he enjoyed being a salesman. As part of the farming business he sold hay, bagged oats, and delivered eggs in Baudette weekly. Roger enjoyed hard work and was a passionate farmer. He stopped for a couple of years, but said farming was in his blood.

He loved spending time with his family, telling stories of when he was young, and visiting with friends and neighbors. He enjoyed planning out and working in his garden. He loved watching his grandkids play sports, so much so that he would bring along a notebook and take stats. Roger and Barb really enjoyed watching college sports together, specifically basketball and volleyball. Roger also enjoyed watching crime TV, old westerns, and cooking shows.

It’s hard to talk about Roger without Barb, or one without the other, because they were inseparable. A love story that goes all the way back to the same hospital they were born in, just two days apart, and then coming back together at the age of 15, and never being apart again for the next 60 years. A love story like no other. He will be missed by many. Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara Porch and his parents Wallace and Vernie Porch, and Brother-in-law Joe Brooks. Roger is survived by his children Tony (Heidi) Porch, Tiarra (Shane) Shaw; grandchildren Heather (Anthony) Fish, Tiffany (Sam Borland) Porch, Leah (Andy Jespersen) Shaw, Wyatt Shaw, and great grandchildren Taylar, Jake, Isabelle, and Mila; siblings Loretta Brooks, Linda (Lyle) Nelson, Debbie (Bill) Carr, and many nieces and nephews. We would like to give a special thanks to the Hospice nurses, Sara Fallar and Mindy Wedin for their help in the last month.
